Police shutdown network
It is great to see that the National Crime Agency (NCA) in the UK have shutdown botnet networks used to obtain financial data. It is common knowledge that botnets spread malware that compromises a users computer and allows for the theft of financial data. It is not known in this latest police operation if any Australian customers were effected.
Australian customers have been effected in the past and I have investigated such offences and sophisticated networks whilst I was in the AFP. Banks and Financial Institutions must keep or attempt to keep abreast of the security of their networks.
